PROFILE
Born in London, this award winning writer-director has lived across the globe, calling India, the USA, Mexico, Colombia, and the UK home. With a passion for storytelling, he embarked on a journey into the world of theater at a young age, working as an actor and playwright. His focus on anthropological theater led him to explore various dimensions of the stage.
After studying philosophy at the Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, he co-founded THE FITI FOUNDATION for Theatre and the Arts alongside his uncle, Gabriel García Márquez. Notably, he spearheaded the first theatrical adaptation of «One Hundred Years of Solitude,» captivating audiences in Colombia and Mexico. Seeking new experiences, he ventured to London, where he honed his craft as an actor, playwright, and director. His thirst for knowledge took him to India, where he delved into Vedanta philosophy and underwent extensive training in Hatha Yoga.
Upon returning to Colombia, he delved into the study of indigenous rites, with a particular interest in the Wayuu culture. He successfully adapted the play «Eyes of the Blue Dog,» showcasing his work in Turkey, Greece, and Madrid. Eager to expand his artistic horizons, he pursued Film Directing at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles.
His filmmaking career flourished with a focus on ethnological documentaries and short films. One of his notable accomplishments includes the award-winning script for «Back to the Sea of My Deceased,» recognized by the Colombian Ministry of Culture and Cinefilia Ibermedia in Spain. Additionally, his short film «Atarraya» premiered at the esteemed Short Film Corner in Cannes and was showcased at numerous international festivals.
In 2022, his short film «Invisibles» made its debut at renowned festivals such as Clermont Ferrand, Fribourg, and the Cartagena Film Festival. It was also featured at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York. His script «FRATERNITY» garnered acclaim, leading to its adaptation as the series «Las iguanas,» which premiered on HBO MAX in May 2022.
Currently, he is fully engaged in the development of new projects, including the co-production film «In the Shadow of an Apple Tree I sat down and cried» (Colombia-Germany) and the script «Domus Dei» (Colombia-Mexico) and “The Prince” a Coproduction between UK and Poland. He continues developing new projects for documentaries and works in advertising.
